The Force that Shapes Your Life!

"Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins - Chapter 3

This chapter focuses on pain vs. pleasure and how this shapes our lives. In essence Tony Robbins is saying that what we link pain and pleasure to will shape our destiny. He states, " what drives our behavior is instinctive reaction to pain and pleasure and not intellectual calculation". What some of you may find surprising is that we do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure.

We can take control of our own lives in a moment by "linking pain to the behaviors we want to stop at such a high level of emotional intensity that we won't even consider those behaviors any longer".The next step would be to link pleasure to the new behavior.

Tony Robbins says that the first step in creating change is becoming aware of the power that pain exert over every decision and therefore every action that we take.

Four actions that I've been putting off:

1. Consistently eating healthier: eating 5-6 smalls meals daily, more vegetables and fruits, eating enough protein.

2. Completing Insanity and P90x Workout Programs.

3. Creating a study schedule.

4. De-cluttering my home: organize closets, pantry and refrigerator.

Harnessing the Power of Decisions

Again, these are concepts that I've taken directly from "Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins. You will soon realize (if you haven't already) that I love this book. I'm sure that there are other motivational masterpieces out there, so if you've already discovered them, please share.

1. You literally begin to change your life the moment that you make a new decision. A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken new action. If there isn't action , you haven't truly decided.

2. The hardest step in achieving anything is making a true commitment - a true decision. Never leave the scene of a decision without first taking a specific action towards its realization.

3. Make decisions often.

4. Learn from your decisions.

5. Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible to your approach.

6. Enjoy making decisions.

Decisions

As I re-read "Awaken the Giant Within", I will share with you the ideas/ tools and strategies that I find interesting and useful.

Tony Robbins spends a bit of time talking about decisions and how they affect who we are and what we do. He says that there are three decisions that control our destiny:

1. Our decisions about what to focus on.

2. Our decisions about what things mean to us.

3. Our decisions about what to do to create the results that we desire.

There is nothing out of our reach if we decide:

1. What it is that we're absolutely committed to achieving.

2. To take massive action.

3. To take notice of what's working and what's not.

4. To continue to change our approach until we achieve what we want and use what life gives on on the way.

I have promised to share what you all the resources that I think may serve you in your quest to creating an amazing life. Yesterday I came across an amazing blog that focuses on the tools and strategies that you can employ. The writer not only shares his own experiences, but provides some incredible references. Awaken the Giant Within

Have any of you read "Awaken the Giant Within" by Anthony Robbins? For those of you who haven't, I highly recommend that you read it. I am reading it again for the second time. This was the most inspiring, motivational book that I've read so far. If you read this book actively, you'll discover what has brought you to your present self, you'll discover why we do the things that we do. If you're seeking to transform your life, this book teaches you the tools and strategies that you need to accomplish this.

After reading this book for the first time, I felt like I could fly . . . there was nothing out of my reach. I ultimately slipped right back into my rut a few months later because I didn't create an effective plan for the days that I couldn't muster up an once of motivation.

We all have the power to create the life that we envision. We must however develop a clear vision of what it is that we want. We need to get clear about what we desire vs. what we're committed to. We must then act.

Anthony Robbins has coined the term CANI - (Constant and Never Ending Improvements). We can have anything and be anyone once we're committed to CANI. Together, I believe that we can create the most spectacular, amazing and dynamic lives.

Wake up and Take Control!

Dear Readers,

Have you gotten to that place where you wake up and realize that you’re not living the life that you envisioned? Do you keep making the same resolutions year after year? Do you feel like there must be more to life? The reason that I’ve decided to start this blog, is because I’ve answered yes to all of these questions.

I am tired of reading book after book, and article after article about living and not merely existing. While I gathered a lot of useful information and felt immensely motivated, the benefits were short lived. I feel frustrated, depressed and very lethargic. These negative emotions have spilled over into every area of my life . . . I am fed up.

I’ve decided that I am no longer going to merely exist. This is my time to wake up, get the hell out of my funk and take control of my life. NO MORE MEDIOCRITY!! I not only need to do this for myself but for all my readers. I know that the only reason you would be reading my blog, is because you too have answered yes to one or more of the questions.

From this point forward, you are no longer my readers, but you’re now my friends. I promise to be open and honest, I promise to take you along my journey step by step in the hope that you too will make lasting changes in your life. Once and for all, we will live the amazing life that we’re all meant to live.

Let's make this life incredible!
